Sunday, June 23rd was Jazz in the Park. It is held on the waterfront next to the pier on St. Simons Island. There was a nice crowd and the weather was nice with a breeze. A good time was had by all.
Linda had a class reunion in West Virginia, and since she went to mine in Ohio last year, we made a long weekend trip to see her hometown friends. However, we took the opportunity to do the Gravity zip line at Adventures on the Gorge on the Gauley River/New River. http://www.adventurewestvirginia.com/site/zip-lines.html
We stayed in one of the Sportsman cabins which had two double and 3 single beds in the upstairs bunk room. It was raining when we arrived so we enjoyed some adult beverages and a cigar while watching/listening/smelling the rain on the front porch. The Gravity zip line experience consisted of five zip lines with the last one 3,100 feet long and reaching speeds over 55mph. We also enjoyed the reunion and Linda had a great time catching up with her classmates and friends. As always, it was nice to get back to the island and relax.
Over the last four years we have had to adjust to several different living conditions. We went from a 3500 sf home to a 44 foot sailboat to a 1200 sf home. We have been just as happy in all of them. It is not the structure that you are in, but who you are with and your attitude which determines how happy you are. We have also found that it doesn't take long to start accumulating "stuff." Thankfully our current home came with a detached shed.
We had intended to sail South of the BVI to the Leeward and Windward islands, but the BVI was so beautiful and accommodating that we stayed for 18 months. We had to leave our dog, Saylor, in the states for the 6 months because of the health requirements of the many islands we passed through on our way to the BVI. When we flew home for Christmas in 2010 we were able to take her back. She was a "people magnet." We became known as "Saylor's Parents," and met many people who stopped to pet the friendly dog perched on the bow welcoming visitors. After one more year living on the Full Moon in the BVI, we decided that it was time to go "home." We missed our family and friends, and we believed that the real estate market was at the bottom. It was time for Linda to get back to work. Our timing was SPOT ON. The market on St. Simons Island has started to recover and the activity is picking up. For those who can, now is the time to buy.
Born in West Viginia, Linda moved to St. Simons Island over 38 years ago. She has been in Real Estate for most of that time and has owned Coastal Georgia Real Estate Associates for 18 years. In addition to her Brokers License, she has earned the designations, GRI, ABR, ePRO, SRES. Linda and Jeff took 18 months off to sail and live in the British Virgin Islands. They returned in January of 2012 just in time for the bottom of the real estate market.
